The Chugiak Chinooks (10-7) and the Matsu Miners (7-14) both had scoring chances on Monday, but it was the Chugiak Chinooks that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 6-4 win at Hermon Brothers Field.
The Chugiak Chinooks staved off the Matsu Miners as the Matsu Miners were unable to match the Chugiak Chinooks down the stretch.
The Matsu Miners scored one run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by PJ Torres. Unfortunately, the Matsu Miners weren't able to take the lead back.
The Chugiak Chinooks were led by Steven Karkenny's hitting. Karkenny went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the first, third, and seventh innings.
Matt Marsh improved to 2-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Chugiak Chinooks. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out four, walked four and surrendered eight hits.
Nick Laroy (0-2) took the loss for the Matsu Miners. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
