A walk-off two-run home run from Jacob Howell brought home the winning run for the Chugiak Chinooks (8-6) in a 6-5 victory over the Peninsula Oilers at Loretta French Field on Saturday.
Adam Humes put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Chugiak Chinooks. He doubled in the fifth inning and singled in the first and seventh innings.
Caleb Dirks baffled the Peninsula Oilers (9-7), striking out seven batters. Dirks allowed one earned run, seven hits and three walks over six innings.
Howell improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chugiak Chinooks. He struck out none, walked one and surrendered two hits.
Louis Cohen couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Peninsula Oilers, taking a loss. He lasted just two-thirds of an inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
The Chugiak Chinooks were sparked by Kristopher Kwak and Humes, who teamed up for five hits and three RBIs.
