Both the Chugiak Chinooks (7-4) and the Matsu Miners (3-10) put runners aboard on Thursday, but it was the Chugiak Chinooks that were able to take advantage, pulling out a 5-2 win at Loretta French Field.

It was a good day at the plate for the Chugiak Chinooks' Jeffrey Turbin. Turbin went 1-3, drove in one and scored two runs. He tripled in the first inning.

The Chugiak Chinooks relied on Clint Manzo to eat up innings en route to the win. Manzo pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs, 10 hits and no walks while striking out three.

A bright spot for the Matsu Miners in the defeat was Tyler Davis, who allowed only three runs while striking out eight.

Davis was charged with his first loss of the year.
