Things looked bleak for the Chugiak Chinooks (5-3) when they trailed by two runs in the eighth inning, but the Chugiak Chinooks recovered thanks to a key double in the eighth inning from Axel Johnson to pull out a 6-5 win over the Anchorage Glacier Pilots (4-4) at Mulcahy Field.

With the score tied at three, Johnson came to the plate and doubled, bringing home Scott Kaplan and Tyler Spoon.

Johnson racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots. He doubled in the eighth inning.

Griffin Gum did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Chugiak Chinooks, reaching base two times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He tripled in the second inning.

Mike Jeffreys baffled the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, striking out 11 batters. Jeffreys allowed one earned run, two hits and two walks over seven innings.

A bright spot for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in the defeat was Trey Teakell, who allowed only two runs while striking out five.

Tommy Kister improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Chugiak Chinooks. He allowed two runs over two-thirds of an inning. Kister struck out none, walked none and gave up two hits.

Travis Pitcher was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out one, and allowed one run.
