Early lead gives the Alaska Goldpanners easy victory over the Peninsula Oilers, 10-1

The Alaska Goldpanners (1-3) refused to relinquish the lead after grabbing it early against the Peninsula Oilers (7-1), recording a 10-1 victory on Friday at Coral Seymour Memorial Park.

Five runs in the first three innings allowed the Alaska Goldpanners to put the game away early.

An RBI double by Michael Zeblo during the second inning supplied the early offense for the Alaska Goldpanners.

Alex Schmidt racked up three RBIs on three hits for the Alaska Goldpanners. He singled in the fifth innings and tripled in the seventh and ninth innings.

The Peninsula Oilers couldn't get anything going so long as Jack Vander Linden was on the hill. The Peninsula Oilers managed just one hit off of Vander Linden, who allowed no earned runs, walked two and struck out six during his five innings of work.

Cole Thompson couldn't get it done on the mound for the Peninsula Oilers, taking a loss. He lasted just 2 2/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
