The Chugiak Chinooks (7-4) and the Anchorage Bucs (6-4) volleyed the lead four times on Wednesday, but the Chugiak Chinooks came out on top for a 3-2 win on Wednesday at Mulcahy Field.
The Chugiak Chinooks finally managed to grab the lead after a strong eighth inning. A groundout by Braden Shipley and gave the Chugiak Chinooks the lead for good.
Kelby Deerman put together a nice outing. Deerman held the Anchorage Bucs hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out none.
Garrett Mattlage was hot from the plate for the Anchorage Bucs. Mattlage went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the second inning.
Andrew Ferreira ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
