The Atwater Aviators (25-17) took down the Sacramento Scorch (9-24) 9-3 on Saturday at Fireman's Memorial Ballpark after slamming the Sacramento Scorch with six runs in the sixth inning.
Adam Mund helped the Atwater Aviators take the lead for good in the sixth inning. Gordon Madej singled to start the sixth. He then went from second to third on a single by Beau Bozett. Finally, Mund came to the plate with the score tied at three in the sixth inning, and singled, scoring Madej.
Joe Medeiros racked up two RBIs on four hits for the Atwater Aviators. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the second, fourth, and eighth innings.
The Sacramento Scorch had no answer for Eric Gleese, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Gleese held the Sacramento Scorch hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.
Joe Cochran got the win, running his season record to 4-2. He allowed three runs over six innings. Cochran struck out nine, walked three and gave up six hits.
Kyle Colombini (0-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked nine and struck out four.
