Five first-inning runs helped the Alameda Merchants (10-10) to a 5-4 win over the BAW Collegiate at College of Alameda on Tuesday.
The Alameda Merchants held off the BAW Collegiate, as the BAW Collegiate were unable to overcome a five-run first inning deficit.
The BAW Collegiate scored on a sacrifice fly by SLADER and an RBI single by COMSTOCK in the fifth inning, a groundout by Cory Bostjanic in the eighth inning, and an RBI single by Schivo in the ninth inning. Despite their efforts, the BAW Collegiate couldn't get over the hump.
Austin Wiggins recorded his first win of the year for the Alameda Merchants. He allowed two runs over 4 2/3 innings. He struck out three, walked six and surrendered four hits.
