Wade Morton drove in the go-ahead run to give the California Glory (17-10) the lead in the seventh inning, as the California Glory hung on to beat the Sacramento Scorch (6-13) 11-6 on Tuesday.
Stafford Brantley singled to start the seventh. He then went from first to second on a single by Andy Scott. Finally, Morton came to the plate with the score tied at four in the seventh inning, and singled, scoring Brantley.Morton racked up five RBIs on three hits for the California Glory. He homered in the first inning and singled in the seventh and eighth innings.
Scott Templeton put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Sacramento Scorch. He doubled in the first and ninth innings.
Brandon Nicholson got the win, running his season record to 4-1. He allowed two runs over three innings. He struck out two, walked none and surrendered three hits.
Scott Gray ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in two innings, walked none and struck out none.
