The Auburn Wildcats fend off the Alameda Merchants' late push, hold on 5-3

The Alameda Merchants (4-4) were never able to get over the hump and overcome their troubles against the Auburn Wildcats (2-5) on Saturday, as the Alameda Merchants fell 5-3 at College of Alameda after falling behind by five runs in the sixth inning.

The Alameda Merchants scored three runs in the sixth on a two-run double by Matt Chavez and an error. Despite their efforts, the Alameda Merchants couldn't finish the comeback.

Joey Havrilak racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Auburn Wildcats. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the sixth inning.

Jacob Cook struck out nine hitters en route to the the Auburn Wildcats win. Cook allowed two earned runs on seven hits and no walks over seven innings.

Chavez racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Alameda Merchants. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the sixth inning.

Joel Deporte (0-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just zero innings, walked three, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
