Richard helps the Newark Bears down the New Jersey Jackals 7-2

The Newark Bears (20-46) beat the New Jersey Jackals (38-28) 7-2 on Saturday at Bears_Eagles Riverfront Stadium behind Mike Richard, who collected four hits.

He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third, fourth, and eighth innings.

Angel Berroa had two extra-base hits for the New Jersey Jackals. He homered in the first inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Mike Ness improved to 7-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Newark Bears. He allowed two runs over seven innings. Ness struck out four, walked one and gave up nine hits.

Isaac Pavlik (7-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked two and struck out three.
