The Rockland Boulders take out the Newark Bears with help from Brachold, 4-1

Keith Brachold went 2-3 and hit a home run, sparking the Rockland Boulders (34-29) to a 4-1 victory over the Newark Bears (19-45) on Wednesday at Bears_Eagles Riverfront Stadium.

He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the eighth inning.

Bobby Blevins picked up the win for the Rockland Boulders. Blevins pitched 6 2/3 innings and allowed one earned run, three hits and four walks while striking out four.

It was a good day at the plate for the Newark Bears' Juan Martinez. Martinez went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the seventh inning.

Victor Gonzalez put together a nice outing. The Rockland Boulders managed just one hit off of the the Newark Bears' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two during his three innings of work.

Julian Sampson ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his third loss of the year. He lasted just six innings, walked four, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
