The Rockland Boulders best the Newark Bears in shootout, 13-8

Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Wednesday as the Rockland Boulders (17-20) outscored the Newark Bears (13-26) 13-8.

The teams totaled 22 hits in the game.

The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to seven lead changes in the game.

Jon Smith racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Rockland Boulders. He homered in the fifth inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Garrett Johnson shut down the Newark Bears while he was on the mound. Johnson held the Newark Bears hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Even though Dan Jurik allowed five runs over six innings he still recorded the victory, his third of the season. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered six hits.

Brian Parker couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Newark Bears, taking a loss. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked one and struck out two.
