Pat Moran struck out 11 batters to lift the Rockland Boulders (16-20) to a 4-1 win over the Newark Bears (13-25) at Bears _ Eagles Riverfront Stadi.
The Rockland Boulders got their bats going early, scoring three runs in the first inning to pull ahead of the Newark Bears.
Ryan Scoma was hot from the plate for the Rockland Boulders. Scoma went 4-5 and scored one run. He singled in the first, third, fifth, and seventh innings.
Despite the loss, the Newark Bears' Matt Fitton dominated the Rockland Boulders' batters, giving up three runs and striking out five.
Fitton ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year.
