The New Jersey's Guzman comes through in the clutch, upends the Newark, 6-4

Carlos Guzman drove in the winning run to give the New Jersey (20-12) the lead in the eighth inning, as the New Jersey hung on to beat the Newark (11-22) 6-4 on Thursday.

With the score tied at four, Guzman came to the plate and homered.

Guzman did his best to jumpstart the offense for the New Jersey, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Isaac Pavlik handled the Newark's lineup with ease, racking up seven strikeouts. Pavlik allowed three earned runs, four hits and no walks over 5 2/3 innings.

Danny Santiesteban racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Newark. He homered in the sixth inning.

Zach Woods recorded his first win of the year for the New Jersey. He allowed one run over 1 1/3 innings. Woods struck out three, walked none and gave up five hits.

Luis Garcia was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed one run.
