The Amarillo Sox (42-49) and the Grand Prairie AirHogs (48-44) passed the lead back and forth seven times on Friday at Amarillo National Bank Sox Stad, but in the end the Amarillo Sox pulled out a 7-3 win over the Grand Prairie AirHogs.
Tim Alberts got a hit in each of his four at bats. He tripled in the fifth inning and singled in the first, third, and seventh innings.
Ryan Mitchell picked up the win for the Amarillo Sox. Mitchell pitched eight innings and allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out four.
Keanon Simon was hot from the plate for the Grand Prairie AirHogs. Simon went 2-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the first and sixth innings.
Jake Cowan (0-2) took the loss for the Grand Prairie AirHogs. He allowed seven runs in six innings, walked one and struck out six.
The Amarillo Sox were sparked by Alberts and Derrick Pyles, who teamed up for six hits and two RBIs.
