The El Paso Diablos get key pinch-hit in 9-8 victory over the Lincoln Saltdogs

Scott Hodsdon was cold coming off the bench, but Hodsdon warmed up quickly as Hodsdon stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the El Paso Diablos (23-35) to a 9-8 win over the Lincoln Saltdogs (24-36) on Saturday at Cohen Stadium.

With the El Paso Diablos trailing by one in the ninth inning, Hodsdon came to the plate and singled.

A walk-off single by Maikol Gonzalez gave the El Paso Diablos the win.

Gonzalez reached base five times in the game for the El Paso Diablos. He scored two runs and had one RBI. He singled in the first, third, and ninth innings.

Each team blasted the other's pitching, and there were 17 total runs and 34 hits during the game. There were 10 pitchers used in the game as the two managers searched for any way to finish it off.

Marcel Prado got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed two runs over one inning. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered four hits.

Conor Spink couldn't get it done on the bump for the Lincoln Saltdogs, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed two runs.

The El Paso Diablos' Gonzalez, Jermy Acey and Jonathan Cisneros combined for eight hits and four RBIs.
