The Sioux Falls Pheasants survive the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks rally, escape with 5-3 victory

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks (35-22) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Sioux Falls Pheasants (28-29) on Wednesday, as the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks fell 5-3 at Sioux Falls Stadium after falling behind by four runs in the third inning.

The Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks scored three runs in the sixth on two singles. Despite their efforts, the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks couldn't get over the hump.

Cesar Nicolas racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Sioux Falls Pheasants. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Cody Evans pitched lights out for the Sioux Falls Pheasants. Evans held the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Jon Gaston was solid at the plate for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. Gaston went 3-4 and scored one run. He doubled in the sixth inning and singled in the second and seventh innings.

Mitchell Clegg got the win, running his season record to 5-3. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. Clegg struck out four, walked none and gave up eight hits.

Jake Laber couldn't get it done on the mound for the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
