The Wichita Wingnuts (27-8) scored four runs in the eighth to cap a 13-4 win over the Sioux City Explorers (17-20) on Friday.
David Peralta helped the Wichita Wingnuts pull ahead for the duration in the seventh inning. Jake Kahaulelio doubled to start the seventh. He then went from second to third on a groundout by John Rodriguez. Finally, Peralta came to the plate with the score tied at four in the seventh inning, and tripled, scoring Kahaulelio, Juan M. Richardson and CJ Ziegler.
Peralta racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Wichita Wingnuts. He tripled in the seventh inning and singled in the ninth innings.
Kahaulelio put himself in scoring position with two extra-base hits for the Wichita Wingnuts. He homered in the first inning, doubled in the seventh inning, and singled in the eighth inning.
Derek Blacksher recorded his fourth win of the year for the Wichita Wingnuts. He allowed four runs over eight innings. Blacksher struck out six, walked three and gave up nine hits.
Andrew Snowdon was charged with his first loss of the year. He allowed seven runs in 6 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out three.
The Wichita Wingnuts' Kahaulelio, Jared McDonald, Mike Conroy and Peralta combined for 10 hits and nine RBIs.
