The Gary SouthShore survive the Wichita rally, escape with 4-2 victory

The Wichita (19-7) weren't able to overcome the big hole they dug themselves into against the Gary SouthShore (13-13), and the Wichita lost 4-2 to the Gary SouthShore after falling behind by four runs in the fifth inning.

The Wichita scored on an RBI double by John Rodriguez in the sixth inning and a groundout by Kevin Whitehead in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Wichita couldn't finish the comeback.

The Wichita had no answer for Stephen Hiscock, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Hiscock gave up just three hits, allowed one earned run, walked none and struck out two during his six innings of work.

Ryan Hinson (3-1) took the loss for the Wichita. He lasted just 6 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out six, and allowed four runs.
