The Winnipeg fend off the Gary SouthShore's late push, hold on 6-5

The Gary SouthShore (7-9) were never able to get over the hump and get over their troubles against the Winnipeg (11-4) on Sunday, as the Gary SouthShore fell 6-5 at Shaw Park after falling behind by four runs in the eighth inning.

The Gary SouthShore scored three runs in the ninth on a two-run error and two singles. Despite their efforts, the Gary SouthShore couldn't get over the hump.

Yurendell de Caster racked up four RBIs on two hits for the Winnipeg. He singled in the fourth inning and homered in the fifth inning.

The Winnipeg relied on Andrew E. Walker to eat up innings en route to the win. E. Walker allowed two earned runs, five hits and one walk while striking out three over six innings of work.

Mike Rohde racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Gary SouthShore. He doubled in the seventh inning.

Nolan Nicholson (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed two runs.
