The Leesburg Lightning beat up on the Sanford River Rats, 12-2

The Leesburg Lightning (23-14) continued to pile up the runs on Saturday, scoring four runs in the seventh inning, en route to an easy 12-2 win over the Sanford River Rats (17-20) at Pat Thomas Stadium/Buddy Lowe F.

The Leesburg Lightning scored four runs in the seventh on an RBI double by Kyle Teaf, an RBI single by Matthew Singletary, and a two-run single by Jason Matusik.

Teaf led the Leesburg Lightning's offensive threat, as he got on base four times in the game. He scored two runs and had two RBIs.

The Sanford River Rats couldn't get anything going as long as Brett Jones was pitching. Jones held the Sanford River Rats hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Michael Clutterbuck improved to 6-1 on the year by picking up the win for the Leesburg Lightning. He allowed two runs over five innings. He struck out five, walked one and surrendered four hits.

Spencer Hermann (1-2) took the loss for the Sanford River Rats. He lasted just three innings, walked six, struck out two, and allowed four runs.
