Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Tuesday as the Leesburg Lightning (24-15) outscored the Orlando Freedom (9-28) 12-10.
The teams totaled 20 hits in the game.
Erik Hindmon helped the Leesburg Lightning pull ahead for the duration in the sixth inning. Michael Miller to start the sixth. He then went from first to second on an error. Finally, Hindmon came to the plate with the Leesburg Lightning trailing by one, and reached on an error, bringing home Miller.
The Leesburg Lightning would not relinquish the lead as the Orlando Freedom were unable to weather a six-run sixth inning deficit.
The Orlando Freedom scored on a two-run double by Skip Kovar in the sixth inning and an RBI single by Jeffrey Campbell, a hit by pitch, a single by Mark Nelson, a sacrifice fly by CJ Kelly, and a single by Kovar in the seventh inning. Despite their efforts, the Orlando Freedom couldn't finish the comeback.
Stetson Nelson got his third win for the Leesburg Lightning despite allowing five runs over five innings. Nelson struck out four, walked one and gave up five hits.
Charles Terry couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Orlando Freedom, taking a loss. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked two, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
