Sam Halpern clubbed two home runs as the Sanford River Rats (16-18) took home an 8-5 victory over the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-14) at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadi on Wednesday.

Jason Boyer looked sharp on the mound. Boyer held the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

Sean Trent racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He homered in the fourth inning and singled in the first and sixth innings.

John Sever got the win, running his season record to 3-0. He allowed three runs over five innings. He struck out three, walked four and surrendered two hits.

Cary Baxter (2-2) took the loss for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He lasted just three innings, walked five, struck out four, and allowed five runs.

Tommy Williams, Halpern, Keith Curcio and Drew Weeks helped lead the Sanford River Rats. They combined for eight hits and six RBIs.
