The Alameda Merchants (18-16) and the Fresno Cardinals (23-13) both had scoring chances on Sunday, but it was the Alameda Merchants that were able to capitalize on them as they pulled out a 3-2 win at College of Alameda.

Matt Chavez had two extra-base hits for the Alameda Merchants. He doubled in the fourth inning.

Despite the loss, the Fresno Cardinals' Tanner Irwin dominated the Alameda Merchants' batters, giving up two runs and striking out five.

Alex Jack improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Alameda Merchants. He struck out one, walked none and surrendered two hits.

Alex Keenan couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Fresno Cardinals, taking a loss. He lasted just zero innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed no runs.
