The Sanford River Rats (16-18) trailed by six in the fourth, but Keith Curcio was able to capture the lead back with a ground out in the seventh, spurring the Sanford River Rats to a 12-7 win over the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-14) at Alfond Stadium on Saturday.

With the score tied at six in the seventh inning, grounded out, scoring Andrew Brodbeck and Kevin Wortman.

The Sanford River Rats were led by Curcio's hitting. Curcio went 2-4, drove in one and scored one run. He singled in the fourth and fifth innings.

Brodbeck was solid at the plate for the Sanford River Rats. Brodbeck went 4-5 and scored three runs. He singled in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and eighth innings.

The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs couldn't get anything going so long as Gabe Rivera was on the hill. The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs managed just one hit off of Rivera, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out one during his 2 2/3 innings of work.

Daniel Sweet reached base three times. He scored one run and had two RBIs. He singled in the third inning.

Brett Allen improved to 4-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Sanford River Rats. Allen struck out two, walked one and gave up no hits.

Christopher Waltermire was charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just 1 1/3 innings, walked none, struck out none, and allowed two runs.
