A magnificent effort by Cary Baxter hoisted the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-14) to a 6-0 win over the DeLand Suns (20-13) on Saturday at Conrad Park at Stetson Universi.
Baxter held the DeLand Suns scoreless for seven innings. Baxter allowed three hits, two walks and struck out eight.
The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs blew out the DeLand Suns thanks to 10 hits, including zero extra base hits. The Winter Park Diamond Dawgs scored two runs in the sixth on an RBI triple by Tyler Rocklein and a sacrifice fly by Brad Lamberti.
Sean Trent had a busy day at the plate, collecting two extra-base hits. He homered in the first inning, singled in the fourth inning, and tripled in the sixth inning.
Brett Mueller couldn't get it done on the rubber for the DeLand Suns, taking a loss. He allowed six runs in five innings, walked one and struck out five.
