The Leesburg Lightning (14-5) were unable to fight back from the big hole they dug themselves into against the Sanford River Rats (6-13), and the Leesburg Lightning lost 5-3 to the Sanford River Rats after falling behind by five runs in the third inning.

The Leesburg Lightning scored three runs in the fifth on a three-run double by Brett Moreland. Despite their efforts, the Leesburg Lightning couldn't get over the hump.

Kevin Wortman racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Sanford River Rats. He singled in the second inning and homered in the third inning.

The Leesburg Lightning had no answer for Eddie Abramson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Abramson held the Leesburg Lightning hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out two.

Moreland racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Leesburg Lightning. He singled in the fourth inning and doubled in the fifth inning.

Joseph Adel recorded his first win of the year for the Sanford River Rats. He allowed three runs over six innings. Adel struck out three, walked four and gave up seven hits.

Stetson Nelson couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Leesburg Lightning, taking a loss. He lasted just five innings, walked one, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
