An outstanding effort by Jake Hanson carried the Leesburg Lightning (13-4) to a 14-5 win over the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (10-8) on Friday at Alfond Stadium.
Hanson rocked the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs with two home runs. Hanson went 3-5 in the game with five RBIs and three runs scored. Hanson homered in the ninth inning.
The Leesburg Lightning blew out the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs thanks to 13 hits, including zero extra base hits. A two-run single by Kevin Knapp and a three-run home run by Nick Palmer helped the Leesburg Lightning score five runs in the sixth. The Leesburg Lightning had four hits in the inning.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to three lead changes in the game.
Dylan Hathcock improved to 2-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Leesburg Lightning. He allowed four runs over five innings. Hathcock struck out three, walked none and gave up seven hits.
Reed Reznicek couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs, taking a loss. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out one, and allowed five runs.
