A walk-off single from Ryan Woodrey brought home the winning run for the Sanford River Rats (15-18) in an 8-7 victory over the Orlando Monarchs (14-16) at Historic Sanford Memorial Stadi on Friday.

Woodrey did his best to jumpstart the offense for the Sanford River Rats, reaching base three times. He scored one run and had one RBI. He singled in the ninth inning.

Keith Curcio had a hot bat for the Sanford River Rats. Curcio went 2-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He homered in the sixth inning and singled in the ninth inning.

The Orlando Monarchs couldn't get anything going as long as Jordan Strittmatter was pitching. Strittmatter held the Orlando Monarchs hitless over 1 1/3 innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out four.

Bryan Hill racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Orlando Monarchs. He singled in the second inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Sam Abrams (2-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 1 2/3 innings, walked none, struck out two, and allowed one run.
