Jake Hanson had three extra base hits, helping the Leesburg Lightning (7-3) to a 7-3 victory over the Orlando Freedom (3-6) on Thursday at Orel Hershiser Field.
He doubled in the first and second innings and homered in the fourth inning.The Orlando Freedom couldn't get anything going so long as Andres Lopez was on the hill. The Orlando Freedom managed just one hit off of the the Leesburg Lightning's pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three during his two innings of work.
TJ Hoelzer paced the Orlando Freedom at the plate. Hoelzer went 3-4 and scored two runs. He singled in the second, fourth, and eighth innings.
Dylan Hathcock improved to 1-2 on the year by picking up the win for the Leesburg Lightning. He allowed two runs over five innings. Hathcock struck out six, walked two and gave up seven hits.
Shane Hill was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just 3 1/3 innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
Matthew Singletary, Erik Hindmon and Hanson helped lead the Leesburg Lightning. They combined for eight hits and five RBIs.
