The Leesburg Lightning seize victory thanks to late error, drop the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs 7-2

The Leesburg Lightning (6-3) and the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (5-5) traded the lead four times on Wednesday, but the Leesburg Lightning ended up on top with a 7-2 win over the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs.

The Leesburg Lightning pulled out the win thanks to a strong seventh inning. A two-run error scored Erik Hindmon and Kevin Knapp and gave the Leesburg Lightning the lead for good.

Jason Matusik racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Leesburg Lightning. He doubled in the fourth inning and homered in the eighth inning.

Stetson Nelson pitched six innings and allowed one earned run, four hits and one walk while striking out four.

It was a good day at the plate for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs' Daniel Sweet. Sweet went 1-3, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the sixth inning.

Carlton Patton improved to 1-0 on the year by picking up the win for the Leesburg Lightning. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered no hits.

Stephen Holden (0-2) took the loss for the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs. He lasted just zero innings, walked one, struck out none, and allowed three runs.
