Mark Nelson brought home the winning run to give the Orlando Freedom (6-24) the lead in the sixth inning, as the Orlando Freedom hung on to beat the Winter Park Diamond Dawgs (19-13) 7-3 on Saturday.
After Robert Buckley, Nelson came to the plate with the score tied at one, and singled, plating Buckley.Nelson was hot from the plate for the Orlando Freedom. Nelson went 3-5, drove in one and scored two runs. He singled in the sixth and seventh innings and tripled in the ninth inning.
Tim Koons racked up nine strikeouts in the the Orlando Freedom win. Koons allowed one earned run, six hits and no walks over six innings.
Brett Nizamoff (4-2) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just one inning, walked one, struck out three, and allowed four runs.
