Jason Matusik knocked in three runs, sparking the Leesburg Lightning (1-0) to a 7-3 victory over the Orlando Freedom (0-1) on Friday at Pat Thomas Stadium/Buddy Lowe F.

The Leesburg Lightning got the win thanks in large part to Nic Kovacs' dominant, six-strikeout performance. Kovacs allowed no earned runs on four hits and no walks over five innings.

Robert Buckley racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Orlando Freedom. He doubled in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Tim Koons was charged with his first loss of the year. He lasted just four innings, walked one, struck out seven, and allowed three runs.
