Natasha Watley drove in the go-ahead run to give the USSSA Pride (26-12) the lead in the sixth inning, as the USSSA Pride hung on to beat the Carolina Diamonds (15-23) 4-1 on Saturday.
After Lauren Lappin, Watley came to the plate with two outs in the sixth and singled, scoring Lappin.Lappin led the USSSA Pride's offensive threat, as she got on base three times in the game. She singled in the second inning.
Danielle Lawrie kept contact to a minimum, striking out nine the Carolina Diamonds batters. Lawrie allowed one earned run, three hits and two walks over seven innings.
Katie Burkhart couldn't get it done on the rubber for the Carolina Diamonds, taking a loss. She lasted just seven innings, walked three, struck out 11, and allowed four runs.
