An outstanding effort by Monica Abbott spurred the Chicago Bandits (23-17) to an 8-0 win over the Akron Racers (14-26) on Sunday at Firestone Stadium.

The Chicago Bandits' Abbott kept the Akron Racers off the scoreboard for all seven innings she was on the hill. She pitched a shutout, allowing no opposing players to cross the plate on three hits while ringing up eight.

The Chicago Bandits blew out the Akron Racers thanks to nine hits, including zero extra base hits. The Chicago Bandits scored four runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Amber Patton, an RBI double by Patton, an RBI triple by Tammy Williams, and a two-run home run by Amanda Williams.

Alisa Goler racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Chicago Bandits. She homered in the seventh inning.

Erin Arevalo (1-4) was the game's losing pitcher. She allowed eight runs in seven innings, walked one and struck out six.
