An outstanding effort by Monica Abbott hoisted the Chicago Bandits (17-16) to a 7-0 win in eight innings over the Carolina Diamonds on Wednesday at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium .

Abbott racked up 11 strikeouts in the the Chicago Bandits win. The Chicago Bandits' pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only five hits.

The biggest inning for the Chicago Bandits was the fifth. The Chicago Bandits' bats caught fire leading to four runs.

Tammy Williams paced the Chicago Bandits at the plate. Williams went 2-3, drove in one and scored three runs. She homered in the third inning and singled in the fifth inning.

Katie Burkhart ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with her seventh loss of the year. She allowed seven runs in seven innings, walked two and struck out five.
