The Carolina Diamonds (13-15) and the Akron Racers (11-18) passed the lead back and forth three times on Friday at Firestone Stadium, but in the end the Carolina Diamonds pulled out a 6-4 win over the Akron Racers.

The Carolina Diamonds staved off the Akron Racers as the Akron Racers were unable to match the Carolina Diamonds down the stretch.

The Akron Racers scored two runs in the seventh on a two-run home run by Brianna Hesson. Still, the Akron Racers couldn't catch the Carolina Diamonds.

Kelsi Weseman racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Carolina Diamonds. She homered in the third inning and singled in the seventh inning.

Morgan Melloh's nine strikeouts were enough to push the Carolina Diamonds past the Akron Racers. Melloh allowed four earned runs on three hits and one walk over seven innings.

Hillary Bach couldn't get it done in the circle for the Akron Racers, taking a loss. She lasted just six innings, walked three, struck out five, and allowed five runs.
