Katie Burkhart hopes every outing could go as well as Friday, as Burkhart struck out 10 batters to carry the Carolina Diamonds (10-15) to a 3-1 victory over the Chicago Bandits (16-10) at Rosemont Stadium in eight innings.
Rachel Folden helped the Carolina Diamonds take the lead for good in the eighth inning. With the score tied at one in the eighth inning, Folden came to the plate and homered, bringing home GiOnna DiSalvatore.
Folden racked up two RBIs on three hits for the Carolina Diamonds. She singled in the first and third innings and homered in the eighth inning.
Despite the loss, the Chicago Bandits' Nikki Nemitz dominated the Carolina Diamonds' batters, giving up three runs and striking out eight.
Nemitz couldn't get it done in the circle for the Chicago Bandits, taking a loss.
