The Carolina Diamonds (2-3) built an early lead against the Chicago Bandits (3-2), scoring three runs in the first inning, en route to a 5-1 win on Thursday at CMC Northeast Field.

GiOnna DiSalvatore racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Carolina Diamonds. She tripled in the first inning and homered in the third inning.

Katie Burkhart struck out six hitters en route to the the Carolina Diamonds win. Burkhart allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over seven innings.

It was a good day at the plate for the Chicago Bandits' Alisa Goler. Goler went 2-3, drove in one and scored one run. She singled in the second inning and homered in the fifth inning.

Meaghan Denny-White couldn't get it done in the circle for the Chicago Bandits, taking a loss. She lasted just two innings, walked one, struck out two, and allowed five runs.
