A superb effort by Monica Abbott hoisted the Chicago Bandits (3-1) to a 4-1 win over the USSSA Pride (1-3) on Thursday at Rosemont Stadium.
The USSSA Pride couldn't get anything going as long as Abbott was on the mound. The USSSA Pride managed just one hit off of Abbott, who allowed no earned runs, walked three and struck out 10 during her seven innings of work.
The Chicago Bandits came out swinging, scoring three runs in the first inning to jump ahead of the USSSA Pride early.
Sarah Pauly (0-1) took the loss for the USSSA Pride. She lasted just six innings, walked two, struck out four, and allowed four runs.
