With the score tied at three, Jake Taylor came to the plate and homered.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to four lead changes in the game.
It was a good day at the plate for the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts' Chris Bzozowski. Bzozowski went 3-6 and scored one run. He singled in the first and third innings and doubled in the eighth inning.
The Southern Maryland Nationals had no answer for Paul Beers, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Beers gave up just one hit, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out six during his four innings of work.
Travis Clark was charged with his fourth loss of the year. He lasted just one-third of an inning, walked none, struck out none, and allowed one run.
