After five lead changes in Saturday's game at James Madison High School, the Vienna River Dogs (20-15) finally pulled out a 4-3 win over the Southern Maryland Nationals (13-23).
It was a good day at the plate for the Vienna River Dogs' Luke Lowery. Lowery went 1-4, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the eighth inning.
The Southern Maryland Nationals had no answer for Jarred Bronley, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Bronley held the Southern Maryland Nationals hitless over three innings, allowed no earned runs, walked one and struck out five.
Reid Timothy Rothenbuhler racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He homered in the second inning.
Nick Benges (1-2) took the loss for the Southern Maryland Nationals. He lasted just one inning, walked none, struck out three, and allowed one run.
