The Herndon Braves get late runs to finish off the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts, 13-6

The Herndon Braves (11-12) used a five-run explosion in the seventh inning to get past the Silver Spring Takoma T Bolts (8-15) 13-6 on Thursday at Blair Stadium.

James Vasquez helped the Herndon Braves take the lead for good in the sixth inning. Jourdan Weiks singled to start the sixth. He then went from first to third on a single by Jake Rowland. Finally, Vasquez came to the plate with the score tied at one, and was hit by a pitch, plating Weiks.

Weston Walker racked up five RBIs on four hits for the Herndon Braves. He singled in the second and seventh innings, doubled in the eighth inning, and homered in the ninth inning.

The Herndon Braves relied on Seth Greene to eat up innings en route to the win. Greene pitched 5 2/3 innings and allowed no earned runs, six hits and three walks while striking out four.

Taylor Topping ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his second loss of the year. He lasted just five innings, walked two, struck out three, and allowed three runs.
