The Baltimore Redbirds get key pinch-hit in 5-3 victory over the Southern Maryland Nationals

Kyle Neverman was cold coming off the bench, but Neverman warmed up quickly as Neverman stroked a key pinch-hit double in the two to lead the Baltimore Redbirds (15-8) to a 5-3 win over the Southern Maryland Nationals (7-15) on Monday at Calvert Hall HS.

With the Baltimore Redbirds leading by one, Neverman came to the plate and doubled.

The Baltimore Redbirds staved off the Southern Maryland Nationals as the Southern Maryland Nationals were unable to match the Baltimore Redbirds down the stretch.

The Southern Maryland Nationals scored two runs in the eighth on a two-run single by Danny Sader. Unfortunately, the Southern Maryland Nationals weren't able to take the lead back.

The Southern Maryland Nationals couldn't get anything going as long as Joe Harvey was pitching. Harvey held the Southern Maryland Nationals hitless over one inning, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out three.

LaMonte Wade Jr. recorded his second win of the year for the Baltimore Redbirds. He allowed one run over five innings. He struck out one, walked two and surrendered four hits.

Scott Baker (1-3) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just 3 2/3 innings, walked five, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
