Fans were treated to a high-scoring affair Sunday as the Vienna River Dogs (13-9) outscored the Rockville Express (13-8) 11-10.
The two teams combined for 29 hits in the game.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.
The Vienna River Dogs finally managed to grab the lead after a strong seventh inning. An error scored J.B. Gadd and gave the Vienna River Dogs the lead for good.
The Vienna River Dogs would not relinquish the lead as the Rockville Express were unable to weather a three-run seventh inning deficit.
The Rockville Express scored on an RBI single by Johnny Cole in the seventh inning and an RBI single by Christian Wolfe and in the ninth inning. Unfortunately, the Rockville Express weren't able to take the lead back.
Justin Albright got the win, running his season record to 2-1. He allowed one run over 2 2/3 innings. Albright struck out two, walked none and gave up no hits.
Nick Keener (3-2) took the loss for the Rockville Express. He lasted just three innings, walked two, struck out one, and allowed three runs.
The Vienna River Dogs were sparked by Brett Williams and Trent Higginbothem, who teamed up for eight hits and six RBIs.
