Norm Donkin was cold coming off the bench, but Donkin warmed up quickly as Donkin stroked a key pinch-hit single in the nine to lead the Rockville Express (12-4) to an 8-3 win over the Alexandria Aces (9-8) on Friday at Frank Mann Field.
With the score tied at three in the ninth inning, Donkin came to the plate and singled.
The teams traded runs for most of the contest, leading to six lead changes in the game.
The Rockville Express finally managed to grab the lead after a strong ninth inning. Scored Tyler York and gave the Rockville Express the lead for good.
Christian Wolfe had two extra-base hits for the Rockville Express. He doubled in the seventh and ninth innings.
Dominic Vattunne baffled the Alexandria Aces, striking out 13 batters. Vattunne allowed three earned runs, six hits and four walks over seven innings.
Nick Keener got the win, running his season record to 2-0. He struck out two, walked one and surrendered no hits.
