Blake Overmiller had two extra base hits, helping the D.C. Grays (8-9) to a 6-2 victory over the Southern Maryland Nationals (6-9) on Wednesday at Hoy Field.
He homered in the fifth inning and tripled in the sixth inning.Joe Donino kept contact to a minimum, striking out eight the Southern Maryland Nationals batters. Donino allowed two earned runs on three hits and three walks over seven innings.
Nick Benges had an impressive outing against the D.C. Grays' lineup. The D.C. Grays managed just one hit off of the the Southern Maryland Nationals' pitcher, who allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two during his two innings of work.
Scott Baker (1-1) was the game's losing pitcher. He lasted just four innings, walked three, struck out six, and allowed five runs.
