Somerset Patriots vs Camden Riversharks: 3-2

Boxscore | Game Recap | Boxscore Text Version | Gamelive Version

The Somerset Patriots survive the Camden Riversharks 3-2 thanks to Smith's late-game heroics

Story by Narrative Science.

Corey Smith brought home the winning run to give the Somerset Patriots (54-55) the lead in the seventh inning, as the Somerset Patriots hung on to beat the Camden Riversharks (48-57) 3-2 on Monday.

After Yunesky Sanchez singled, Smith came to the plate with the score tied at two in the seventh inning, and doubled, plating Sanchez.

Jesse Hoorelbeke led the Somerset Patriots' offensive threat, as he got on base three times in the game. He also drove in one runner. He doubled in the first inning and singled in the third inning.

The Somerset Patriots got the win thanks in large part to Roy Merritt's dominant, seven-strikeout performance. Merritt allowed one earned run on four hits and one walk over 7 2/3 innings.

Keith Weiser ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with his eighth loss of the year. He lasted just seven innings, walked one, struck out four, and allowed three runs.
