Jesse Gutierrez went 1-3 and hit a home run, helping the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs (50-56) to a 5-2 victory over the Sugar Land Skeeters (47-60) on Saturday at Regency Furniture Stadium.

The Sugar Land Skeeters couldn't get anything going as long as Gabriel Hernandez was pitching. Hernandez gave up just three hits, allowed two earned runs, walked one and struck out five during his six innings of work.

Manuel Mejia racked up two RBIs on one hit for the Sugar Land Skeeters. He homered in the sixth inning.

The Southern Maryland Blue Crabs had no answer for Dustin Richardson, who kept runners off the basepaths in his appearance. Richardson held the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs hitless over two innings, allowed no earned runs, walked none and struck out two.

Scott Kazmir couldn't get it done on the bump for the Sugar Land Skeeters, taking a loss. He lasted just six innings, walked eight, struck out four, and allowed five runs.
